Experience: I have had a variety of experience in tutoring children from all different ages. I have tutored/ mentored children form the ages of 9-11 in a volunteer role in Leeds whilst I was at University. This involved preparing children for their SATs exams/11+ tests, assisting them with homework, planning weekly sessions and incorporating fun and enjoyable social activities into these sessions. This provided me with a lot of experience in teaching children of this age and I am now familiarised with the content used in KS2 education. Furthermore, whilst I was at University I helped to mentor young adults who were coming into their first year, having just left home they needed extra guidance and support. I was guiding them on their coursework and also giving them advice and tips on how to adapt to University life. I can now appropriately engage with young adults and can tutor individuals at the university level. I have also just completed my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teaching certificate and therefore can take the techniques I have learnt here into tutoring. Lastly, I have volunteered at my local primary school helping younger children between the ages of 3-6 with their homework and early learning words. These different roles and qualifications have given me the confidence to tutor individuals of many ages.
