Information about Victoria

I am a highly qualified, experienced Geography and RS teacher, holding a First class Geography degree and Masters. Having worked as a private tutor and teacher for over 8 years, I have developed a wealth of experience and knowledge in my subject areas and am able to deliver the accurate and detailed information to students in a simple and memorable method.
I began tutoring after I finished my MSc and this work gave me a real sense of gratitude when helping students achieve their true potential. I have always been an incredibly diligent and conscientious worker and this is reflected in the level of dedication and teaching standard I have upheld in my time as a tutor.
Completing a PGCE in Geography in 2016 has further equipped me with strategies and techniques to help students develop a thorough subject knowledge and confidence in achieving their goals. As a result of my teaching experience, I have an up-to-date knowledge of my subjects and my approach can be adapted to students of all ages and backgrounds.
I am a passionate, engaging and committed tutor with a high success rate and ability to motivate students. In my spare time, I enjoy travelling (having just returned from a 7 month trip around Oceania and South America), upcycling and trekking.

Experience: After tutoring for several years across the UK, I went on to teach in three high-achieving colleges around London where I independently managed the GCSE and A Level Geography departments. Teaching the course content, organizing field trips, writing reports and marking and submitting coursework were all standard duties in such roles which have greatly enhanced my teaching abilities and experience. This has not only developed a thorough and in-depth knowledge across almost all GCSE, International GCSE and A Level specifications, I have also amassed a wealth of resources.
In 2016, I completed a PGCE qualification as I felt the time had come to develop my skills further and truly become the best teacher I could possibly be. The PGCE course offered a chance for me to engage with other teachers in this discipline and to observe, critique and understand new methods of teaching besides what I have developed myself. As a creative, energetic and passionate teacher, my aim is to show all students how engaging and wonderful the subjects of Geography and RS are.
In my time as a tutor, I have taught a range of students and offer a wide variety of teaching services. I have worked with SEN students (autism, dyslexia, ADHD), lived with families on residential tuition placements for several weeks in various parts of the country, tutored via online distance learning mediums and offered intense courses over school holidays. My services in this time have included enhancing subject knowledge and going through course content, developing sound exam techniques and essay writing/structuring skills, GCSE and A level coursework support and proof reading and editing BSc and MSc dissertations.

Having privately tutored over 120 students in my time, I have had a resounding success rate. In 2016, 11 of my A2 students achieved an A* or A grade in their A level Geography, whilst I have a history of pulling students up from a D grade to an A grade.
My approach to teaching is interactive and informal, which many of my previous clients have favoured. Whilst covering much of the course material, I continue to question the tutee, so that I engage with them and get an idea of where their strengths and weaknesses lie, enabling me to assess areas of weakness and focus on improvement.
Through setting exam questions each week as homework, I can get to see what students’ writing skills and structure are like and can work on any weaknesses that lie in such areas. I will also guide tutees with their exam techniques and offer invaluable tips on where extra marks can be gained.
Many of my past clients have complimented me most on my style of teaching and the relaxed, yet comprehensive approach I adopt. I strive to build students’ confidence in their ability to question and critique and my high expectations enable me to get the best from my students. Through their continuous reflection, my students develop confidence and intellectual creativity in their subjects.

Victoria has been tutoring my daughter Geography for the past year. Within that time my daughter improved rapidly in Geography and developed a real interest in the subject. This was solely due to Victoria`s tutoring. She is a patient and talented tutor with excellent teaching techniques. Her lessons are always well pre-planned and tailored with various notes to assist my daughter`s requirements. As a consequence, every lesson is very productive and beneficial. In the end, Victoria`s dedicated tutoring led my daughter to gain a high A* in Geography. (DS, Northolt)

The best thing we did was get our daughter a Geography tutor and were lucky to come across Victoria.  She is incredibly passionate about her subject and is great with giving confidence to your child.  She will always go that extra mile and nothing is too much effort. I would recommend Victoria to any friends needing a Geography tutor without hesitation.(TD, London)

Victoria has quite simply been amazing. Her subject knowledge, patience and teaching style were exactly what my son needed. Victoria immediately built a wonderful tutor/student relationship and gave my son much needed confidence in a subject he was finding really tricky. I highly recommend Victoria, my only regret is that we didn’t find her sooner. 😃;
