Information about Callum
I am a young, dynamic teacher working at a secondary school in Hatfield, but based in High Barnet, Hertfordshire. I have been working in education since January 2017 and achieved qualified teacher status in 2018 after training at the Ofsted Outstanding Alban Federation, based at Sandringham School in St. Albans. I am currently the deputy head of Humanities and the History lead at my school in Hatfield, Herts.
I am incredibly passionate about the subject of history and regularly attend CPD sessions, teach meets and attend webinars to ensure I am at the cutting edge of historical pedagogy. Due to the current situation with COVID-19, I can teach either online or in person. In person I will ensure that I take all necessary precautions to ensure both the student and I are safe. If you have any questions or would like any further information please get in contact.
Availability: Mon-Fri afterschool/evenings.
Weekends are available if requested but may be at a higher rate.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I was educated at Dame Alice Owen`s School where I achieved ABB at A-Level as well as 11 GCSES including 3 As and 7 Bs. This enabled me to attend the University of Birmingham, where I graduated with a 2.1 (hons) degree. I then worked in London in the hospitality sector as well as in the music industry.
I have four years of teaching experience up to GCSE level. In my last set of mocks the average grade improvement for my students was 2+ grades ahead of their summer exams. I regularly run interventions to support our most disadvantaged students and to stretch the most able.
I have a passion and love for the subject of history that impacts on every aspect of my teaching. In my own time I attend CPD training to ensure I am following the latest developments in my subject area. As well as this, I attend history teacher meets to share, compare and contrast the latest methods and using research to inform the lessons I plan.
I would be very excited to discuss any tutoring opportunity! Please do get in touch if you have any questions at all.
