Information about Heidi

Hola, Bonjour, Oi!
Always thought learning languages was hard and boring? Well think again! Not only is being able to speak more than one language a fantastic skill to have, especially in today’s global society, it is also a fantastic opportunity to explore new cultures, meet new people and have fun! That’s why I love languages and I would love to help you feel the same way too.
Having had experience teaching French, Spanish and English to a wide variety of ages I am happy to offer assistance at whatever level of language you have. I am a recent graduate from Newcastle University with a First Class Honours Degree. I studied French and Spanish and Portuguese and completed a year abroad where I worked in France for 7 months and I studied in Brazil for 6 months.
I believe my experience is plentiful and having sat both GCSE and A-Level French and Spanish I am familiar with the process and understand the challenging commitment, skills and patience needed to study for these exams. I aim not only to help students improve their language skills but also their confidence and enjoyment of the subjects, which I think are both very important in preparation for exams and also in life.

Experience: Before coming to university, I used to plan and teach French lessons for children at my local primary school (ages 7-11). I have also worked in a bilingual school in Madrid, working with a variety of ages throughout the school.
Currently, I am a ‘Routes into Languages’ ambassador at Newcastle University. This means I promote language learning in the North East of England. I have helped run and lead events in English, Spanish and French for primary school, GCSE and A-Level students. Aside from my work with children I have taught English to adults who do not speak it as their native language for my local council. I have tutored both GCSE A-Level students in French and Spanish. I worked as an au pair in Madrid for 2 months, which required me to speak a very high level of Spanish and teach English to the two Spanish children I looked after. This experience, alongside living with a native Spanish student for the last year, has been vital in allowing me to develop my Spanish skills and I have become confident in my language abilities. I have also worked in France for 7 months , working in the language at a professional level and I studied for 6 months at a Brazilian university, developing fluency in both languages.
I am happy to help with anything from marking homework, grasping a better understanding of grammar, going through past papers to practising speaking in order to improve fluency, accuracy and most importantly confidence!
I look forward to hearing from you!
