Simone is a sculptor based in London and Stutttgart. She began her art studies at Kunsthochschule Mainz in Germany under professor Tamara Grcic (sculpture) and John Skoog (film). Availability: Since I work as a freelance artist, it is easy for me to integrate tutorials in my day`s schedule. Hence, I am flexible concerning time and day, which furthermore enables me to be available at short notice.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I started studying art with a focus on sculpture in the year of 2015. Since then I have continiously followed this practice without any major interruptions. During my studies I have gained professional experience in handcrafts like wood and polystyrene carving, advanced paper maché or mould making and casting.
I previously organised workshop with students and created group projects for the local community like a travelling cinema- amongst one of its stops has been a beautiful art deco gym of a primary school with a film programme and customised screens especially developed for the space and the young audience.

Growing up reading the Grimm Brother’s fairy-tales, Harry Potter and Tolkien’s the Lord of the Rings, I learned by means of stories the meaning of escapism - to visit worlds (secondary worlds) that make you forget the unpleasantness of our time - to which I try to relate to in my practice. I have always been seeking material in these narratives but also in their revivalism in films and theme parks, as well as in gardens, playrooms and on the streets - places where children use toys and street chalk, cardboard and commonplace objects to create their very own world of imagination.
