Information about Godwin

After graduating from CASS Business School with an Actuarial Science degree (Mathematics and Statistics), I have taken up a Finance role at Ernst & Young, a reputable multinational accountancy firm. I have always enjoyed working with young people and passing my knowledge to others to see them improve, which are the reasons behind my desire to teach.

I am friendly and approachable, and my students thoroughly enjoy my lessons. I have taught students from various cultural background and at various skill levels. I am enthusiastic and enjoy the moment when a student grasps a concept for the first time. I explain things clearly and enjoy working with students of all levels of ability. I provide materials suitable for each level. These materials are used during the lessons and form homework.

I have been tutoring Mathematics at levels ranging from 11+ students, through to GCSEs and undergraduate degrees for over seven years.

By forming good relations with my students and explaining the required concepts clearly, I manage to keep them interested in the subjects. Having achieved A* in GCSE and A level Mathematics myself, I am able to guide my students to achieve exam success. My priority about tutoring is tailoring each of my lessons according to individual students, which is the key aspect of one-to-one tutoring. I also use questions and homework to check understanding continually. I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student`s understanding and technique.

I would take a student-centered approach to teaching by asking students to bring their notes and talk me through the topics they feel are most difficult. My aim as your tutor would be to identify your strengths and weaknesses and build upon these appropriately. I would incorporate past paper questions very early in the curriculum to assess how well a child can apply their knowledge to answering exam questions. This will ensure that by the time the exams are sat the student will be fully prepared.

I prepare materials which allow them to reinforce their understanding to learn a difficult subject. I gradually strengthen their knowledge and bring them to a higher level.

Materials included:
- Homework
- Mock exam questions
- Quiz sessions
- Past papers
I am teaching the following:
KS2 & KS3 Maths
GCSE Maths - All Exam Boards (Foundation & Higher Tier 9-1 Syllabus)
A Level maths - Exam Boards (Edexcel, OCR, OCR MEI, AQA)

Experience: Over the past 10 years, I`ve been tutoring pupils from 11+ entrance exams to A levels which covers all Exam Boards.
All my students have gained admission into grammar and private schools at the 11+ stage. Furthermore, all my students have achieved higher than their predicted grades for GCSE and A levels.
I am extremely adaptable and can work a number of methods to suit a student’s particular way of learning. I like explain concepts clearly until the student has understood them, then I help them through a few problems so that they understand how to apply the concept and then allow them to do a series of problems on their own, either in the tutorial or for homework.
