Information about Melissa
As an American violinist with extensive performance experience, my goal in teaching violin is to develop self-discovery and a means of self-expression through music, and awaken a love of the arts in general, through a multitude of positive experiences, which include playing, listening, chamber music, images and musical games.
My Younger students may expect to have a fun and stimulating learning experience, learning to coordinate body awareness with mental activity in a holistic manner. Older and advanced students will be learning to integrate breathing and relaxation into their musical performance, building on their technical skills and adding to their repertoire.

Experience: I am an American violinist, with 25 years of teaching experience, and I have taught in several different countries, most recently in a tenured position at a French conservatoire. I am familiar with several different teaching methods, including preparing students for grade exams, French solfege, American style pedagogy and Suzuki method.
I have extensive performance experience, having played with several major French orchestras, both opera and symphonic, and was a founding member of the Leonore Quartet for 15 years. I am currently a member of Orchestre Lamoureux in Paris.
I studied the violin at Eastman School of Music in the USA, and the Hochschule fur Musik in Berlin.
I speak English, French and German fluently.
