Information about George
I`m a friendly and enthusiastic Masters graduate with a passion for the German language and helping others achieve their language learning goals. I have experiencing tutoring a range of levels from complete beginners to adults looking to improve their German for work purposes.
Having mastered German as a foreign language myself, I am particularly apt to help others with the learning process. I`ve previously lived and worked in Munich.
Availability: I am available weekends (anytime), or during the week after 5:30pm
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have tutored German both privately and as a volunteer through a university program.
I have TELC German language certificate:
C1 speaking (academic fluency), B2 reading and writing (professional working fluency)
The starting abilities of my students have ranged from complete beginner to intermediate/advanced. This experience, in combination with my exposure to teaching larger groups, means that I am able to effectively cater to all levels and learner types. Each student is an individual and therefore I am sure to understand their goals and motivations before creating a tailored plan for us. I am also a firm believer in encouraging the student to become comfortable expressing themselves and making mistakes from day one.

George is very intelligent and articulate. He has reached a high standard of competency with German. There are two types of German language, informal German and formal German, George concentrates on formal German. Along time ago I studied German and did the Grammar and George is helping me rework the grammar which I have mainly forgotten because the other languages that I speak don`t use the case system. George asked me to write my weekly activities. I must admit that I found it difficult and I struggled because it has been a number of years since I have done written German. What you will find is that the written German varies differently from the spoken German and for a long time I have been listening to the spoken German and I am lazy in that it is easy to listen passively than to actively write a piece in German. I find German a very formal and mechanical language. German is the most widely spoken language in Europe and it is worthwhile studying because German is the language of business and finance.
