I am a Senior Examiner at A level and have thirty years experience as a Head of English, beginning at Wycombe Abbey School before moving on to be Assistant Head Teacher. I have been teaching online for six years with an excellent record of results and can offer excellent testimonials from students on Tutor Hunt and elsewhere. I offer a FREE FIRST LESSON. No-one has ever not come back. I have experience in a full range of IGCSE, GCSE and A Level Specifications in both English and English Literature. As Senior Examiner I am involved in both marking and paper-setting. As a tutor I focus on interpreting for my students the assessment level descri ptors that examiners will use to assess their work. That way, they know exactly what they must do to reach the level they are aiming for. I offer detailed feedback on my students` work and sample answers on every question I set them. I email students and their parents after every lesson detailing the work we have covered and giving clear targets for progress. I have a lifetime`s experience and excellent record in helping students` with personal statements for UCAS, particularly for Oxbridge. I also have huge experience - and success - with students with dyslexia and a range of special educational needs, for example autism. I have developed a range of ways of helping with special needs over the years. My expertise is wide-ranging: one day I might be lecturing to an A level conference, for Sovereign Education, in London, the next I might be one-to-one tutoring on line, delivering an A level specification or preparing a student for an entrance exam - or working with undergraduate on their dissertation. I deliver whole courses at KS4 and KS5 to home ed students and support students in mainstream education. Quite simply: I am passionate about English. Both my children read English at university, my son at Oxford; he is now Deputy Literary Editor on the Times. English is in our life-blood!

Availability: I am available during evenings and at weekends and for intensive sessions during school holiday periods - for example assisting students with coursework and revision.
