Information about Nga
My name is Kat, I am a full-time tutor. I completed my BSc Biochemistry at Imperial College London and MSc at the London School of Economics. I have a wide range of hobbies which include music and art. My indulgence in my hobbies, however, did not prevent me from distinguishing myself academically (I took 5 subjects at A-level and 11 subjects at GCSE, and achieved all A.A). I want my students to understand and learn in an efficient albeit enjoyable way.
Biology, Chemistry, Maths
I enjoy teaching and have been a tutor for 6 years. I teach Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I care about students, and I wish that they could learn to love Science and Maths as I do. To achieve the high goals I set for my students, I require the cooperation of the student and a ge in attitude. I believe that everyone is capable of getting an A* in any subject, as long as they are dedicated to achieving that goal. Every student is different, as such, I tailor my teaching methods to each individual student. I put emphasis on encouraging students, cultivating their natural interest and understanding of the subjects they chose to take. I have found this approach to be more effective in building confidence in students, motivating them, and in realizing their full potential - all of which are key to exam success.
I am very experienced in boosting exam grades and there are numerous success stories, some of which are as follows:
1. I helped a student who had a predicted B to achieve an A* in GCSE Biology within 2 months (By providing guidance on how to revise efficiently and on improving exam techniques).
2. I helped a student with a predicted C grade to achieve an A* in GCSE biology within 3 months (Through creating a revision plan which takes account of the human memory curve, and by enhancing understanding and exam techniques).
3. I helped a student with a predicted C grade to achieve an A in GCSE Maths in 6 months (Through enhancing understanding and adjusting revision habits)
4. I helped a top GCSE chemistry student to achieve near full marks within 2 weeks (Through identifying weaknesses in handling exam questions).
For all long-term students, I will first conduct a pre-assessment of the student to understand their specific needs. Then, based on my findings, I will design bespoke lesson plans so that they learn in an organized manner.
What distinguishes me from other tutors is that:
1. I teach my students how to study effectively and efficiently.
2. I apply techniques such as `memory training` and `study support` to my teaching methods and train my students to master these simple skills.
3. I provide top-tier revision materials and additional practise questions
4. I provide constructive feedback for students with regard to their exam practice papers and other relevant exercises.
For the younger ones:
1. I am very patient and gentle.
2. I have special strategies to make learning fun for children
3. I help them develop a love for learning and knowledge
