Information about Lisa
I am a qualified and experienced primary school teacher. I graduated from Newcastle University with a joint honours degree in History and Politics and later undertook a PGCE at Hull University, where I gained Qualified Teacher Status.
I am a Specialist Leader of Education and work part-time in primary school improvement. Both of these provide me with a hugely valuable ongoing and up-to-date experience as I am able to apply this knowledge within my teaching - for example, helping to equip pupils with a sound SATs technique, or decodable reading skills for the Phonics Screening Check.
I am friendly, patient and approachable and I aim to build a positive relationship with each pupil I teach. I empathise with the struggles often associated with learning and my teaching style lends itself to creating a supportive and enjoyable environment which challenges pupils to reach their full potential.
Availability: I am available most weekday afternoons between 3pm and 5pm (with the possibility of some evenings with prior arrangement).
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have over seventeen years` experience as a full-time teacher across the Primary age range including EYFS, Key Stages 1 and 2. Now a part-time tutor alongside my current part-time role in school improvement, I have a thorough understanding of the National Curriculum and keep up-to-date with any changes that take place. I have taught a whole spectrum of abilities and have experience in successfully preparing children for SATs and the Phonics Screening Check. I offer preparation for SATs, 11+, Scholarship and School Entrance Exams. I have SEN experience. Other specialisms include phonics and early reading.
I have a passion for teaching and a wealth of knowledge and experience with teaching children in the EYFS (Reception), KS1 (Years 1 and 2), and KS2 (Years 3, 4, 5, 6). I bring energy and enthusiasm to my lessons and aim to inspire pupils to be actively interested in learning. I aim to build each pupils confidence and enthusiasm for maths and English both in school and in life outside of school. I have high expectations of my pupils and seek commitment and a positive attitude.
