Information about Adele

Very Experienced Friendly French Tutor for all ages and levels (DBS certificate).
I have consistently boosted GCSE results by 2 to 3 grades (last year many of my pupils achieved a grade 9 or 8).
Due to COVID I have converted all my resources to create stimulating interactive on line lessons via Skype and/or Zoom, using Google Documents to share written work. I am an experienced French Tutor with a varied client base including Common Entrance, GCSE and A Level students but also adults who are beginners or want to `brush up on their French` and children of all levels and ages from the age of 4. I am up to date with what skills are required to pass Common Entrance, GCSE (IGCSE) and A Level exams, across all boards, in terms of: demonstrating a knowledge of different tenses; having a good vocabulary; using adjectives to make language more descri ptive; methodically checking grammar; showing an understanding of both oral and written comprehensions. Before building on any student`s knowledge of French I check that the basic foundations in terms of grammar are correct.
I can either pass on some very simple tips and exam techniques in order to improve a GCSE grade or provide the basic tools, for those pupils who are struggling, in order to pass the GCSE.
For A Level I can help with tips needed to make the transition from GCSE to A Level in written and spoken work, as well as helping with literature (my specialism) and film topics.

I am very patient and adaptable and believe in nurturing and encouraging. Building confidence is key. I try to make the lessons productive as well as fun. I can tailor any lesson to the specific requirements of the individual student whether it`s spoken and/or written. I believe in building the student`s confidence by ensuring that they have a robust knowledge and understanding of the basic rules of grammar. I want my students to enjoy learning and share my love of the French language.

I also teach `after school` French clubs in local Primary schools (`La Jolie Ronde` award winning course).
I have an up to date DBS back ground check.
I have also completed an NSPCC child protection course (certificate available on request).

I can either travel to your home or teach the lessons at my house in W12.
I am happy to discuss my rate if you are willing to travel to me (and/or for multiple bookings).

Availability: I am generally available during the week and the weekends.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have been tutoring French for nearly 10 years. I quickly built up a varied client base including: GCSE and A Level pupils, Common Entrance (11+) candidates, children from age 4 to 10 and adults who need French for work or want to brush up on their GCSE/O Level French for holidays.
I have developed extensive tools and resources for all of the above, especially `Grade Boosting` sheets.
Many of my precious GCSE clients have kept me on to tutor the younger siblings.
GCSE GRADES 2020 -22: 90% Grade 9`s and 8`s. (A Levels - 100% A*`s)
I also teach `after school` and lunch time French clubs in local Primary schools (`La Jolie Ronde` an award winning course).
I have many repeat clients and several 5 star reviews/recommendations on another tutoring website (available on request).
My Background:
I graduated from Nottingham University with a 2.1 BA with Hons degree in French.

I lived in France for a total of 3 years working as an English `assistante` teacher in secondary schools and also as an English tutor for ages ranging from 7 to 70. I also worked for a large company (part of May and Baker) translating agrochemical documents and tutoring the senior management team.

After moving back to UK my career was in the fashion retail industry, working as a Senior Merchandiser in the Head Offices of Monsoon, TopShop, River Island and BHS. Being a senior manager and team leader I needed to be organised, thorough, enthusiastic, self motivated and a good communicator. I was responsible for the training and career development of my staff which was one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

I left retail when BHS was sold for £1!!!...I realised my heart was no longer in it so I decided to return to my first love... (French!)
I have two teenage children and therefore wanted to start working more flexible hours.

Please feel free to ask any questions.

Adele has brought real energy and fun into French lessons for our 11yo twin boys, who are complete beginners. She manages to motivate them and keep their attention throughout, which is no mean feat! They are getting a really good flavour of the basics, which is fantastic.
