Information about Lucinda
I am a highly qualified and experienced Psychology and Science teacher and tutor. I have a degree in Psychology and Philosophy, an MA in Special and Inclusive Education and am a chartered psychologist. I qualified as a teacher in 2002 and have taught Psychology GCSE and A level at a variety of schools. As well as one-to-one tuition, I have run revision courses and worked as an A level examiner.
I am able to tutor students for both GCSE and A level Psychology supporting their subject knowledge, broadening their understanding of the subject as a whole, working on exam skills, as well as fine tuning their essay writing and revision skills. I am passionate about Psychology and inspire others to feel more confident about the subject too.
I work with students to encourage them to become reflective learners, teaching them to use marking feedback on their written work to improve their exam skills. As a psychologist I use my understanding of memory and learning to engage students and help make the process of learning easier. I am confident in my ability to help students improve their knowledge and understanding of the subject and exam process.
Both professionally and personally I have supported children with a variety of special educational needs.
Availability: I can be flexible around day times and evenings.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I qualified as a secondary teacher in 2002 and have taught Psychology GCSE and A level in a variety of schools in both the private and state sectors in London and Oxfordshire. I have been an examiner for both OCR and AQA psychology A level which has given me an insight into the exam process.
In 2013 I completed my masters in Special and Inclusive Education and have since supported a number of students with Autistic Spectrum condition, Dyslexia, ADHD and working memory difficulties through exams. I have written and devised study skills courses and workshops for: sports clubs with young high performance athletes taking exams; teachers with students struggling with exam performance and mental health issues; parents who want to support students more effectively; and sixth form tutor groups.
In my last teaching role I work specifically with students struggling with mental health difficulties. I work with the students to help them organise their time, break down their revision and manage, what they felt was, an overwhelming workload. I have been working closely with Reading University on a variety of projects engaging and educating parents and teachers on anxiety.
I am happy to tutor at my home or at yours depending on what best suits both of our needs/commitments and depending on the days/times. I am willing to travel up to 30 minutes from my home to yours, but do ask for up to a £15 contribution towards this travel time (if its an hour round trip). If its less than this then obviously I would request less.
