Information about Jared
Hello, my name is Jared. I am a fully-qualified teacher with a passion for helping young learners discover their passions. If you`re looking for a positive, patient and professional tutor to help your child navigate the sometimes tricky world of writing, reading and maths then get in touch today!
Availability: My availability is flexible. While I am available most weekday evenings, I am also happy to work with your child on weekend mornings and during the majority of (holiday) periods throughout the day. Wherever possible, I will do my best to ensure that I adapt to your schedule in a way that is well-suited to your child`s daily routine.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Since graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, I have spent over five years working with children in classrooms including as a Head of Maths and a specialist Year 6 SATs tutor up and down the country. I am fortunate enough to have worked in a number of different schools during my career, which has allowed me to develop an array of different methods to help children to make progress in both maths and English at both primary and KS3 level. As both a tutor and a teacher, I have worked with pupils across a range of ages and attainment levels.
I strongly believe in creating lessons that are designed to benefit the needs of individual learners. Whether that means providing challenging extension activities to stretch your child`s understanding or visiting topics from the ground up to rebuild confidence - children are unique and no two individuals are exactly alike.
As a tutor, I focus on building meaningful relationships with my tutees to tailor learning toward their interests. I maintain that children learn best in an environment where they feel safe to make mistakes (in order to progress further) and this positive stance is at the forefront of my teaching philosophy.
When working together, our lessons will generally last an hour and take a research-driven approach to studying. This will include time allocated for that day`s specified topic as well as a short introductory period where we can reflect upon your child`s previous learning. As should be the case for all learning, timings within that hour are flexible and can be adapted for the needs of the pupil. As a tutor, I am friendly, open-minded and flexible - please feel more than welcome to get in touch with any questions that you might have to find out more.
