I recently finished my PhD in Theoretical Physics at Imperial College London, where I carried out research in String Theory, an exciting subject at the forefront of particle physics. I have hundreds of hours of experience tutoring physics and maths.
My style as a tutor is to encourage an intuitive understanding of the subject through clear explanations and to build the confidence of students, equipping them with both the technical skills and the self-belief required to achieve their goals.
I love tutoring and I care very deeply about my tutees. I have a talent for explaining things, as demonstrated by the various prizes I have won for academic talks about my work. Of course, as a scientist, I have true passion and enthusiasm for maths and physics, which lets me really bring out how fun, exciting and profound these subjects are. Anyone can gain a deep understanding of such technical subjects, as long as they are given the right guidance and lucid explanations that start from the basics. This deeper understanding is a great thing in its own right, and ultimately leads to exam success.
For physics and maths I think it`s important to really understand the content intuitively and see the bigger picture, rather than just following recipes to get the answers, so I always try to get this across. Of course I also go into the finer details of specific problems, like the nitty-gritty of the algebra required in answering a particular question, building up my students` technical and analytical skills.
I am flexible as to how sessions are spent, depending on the needs of the tutee. My experience tutoring has given me an appreciation for the importance of tailoring my lessons to suit each individual`s needs and to work with them on strategies to reach their goals.
Availability: I`m currently available on any working day as I`m working as a tutor full-time. I`m also willing to work on weekends occasionally.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: I have experience tutoring (A-Level and GCSE maths, A-Level physics) and teaching undergraduates at Imperial. I`m very familiar with most undergraduate Physics topics, especially those that are more theoretical/mathematical. I know the A-Level physics and maths courses very well and will give students a really strong and intuitive grasp of these subjects.

Mia makes lessons so interesting by detailing the origins of equations and methods and outlining where they come from and why they make sense. She has an excellent understanding of Maths and Physics and is clearly very passionate about the subjects. Lessons were very enjoyable.
