Information about Kevin
Teaching engineering disciplines in a local university and a local FE college, good with maths and mechanical science and a qualified teacher.
My main strengths are breaking down the maths and physics to an easy to understand level. I create worksheets which start at an easy level to build confidence and work up the required standard. I can take tutorial sheets from other teachers and break them down into an easier language.
During a session, I review the existing work covered by the other teachers and help explain the parts that the student doesnt understand. It`s very common for teachers to teach very quick and the student becomes a `Note-taker`. I ask students to try and get the question and answer in this case. We can work out the problem solving in the middle.
From setting and marking exams in university and college, I give advice on how to gain maximum marks by showing all workings and how to use the calculator to check answers.
Providing support for A level and GCSE maths and BTEC Engineering Level covering all aspects. I have studied and teach the BTEC Extended Diploma and I also keep up to date with latest validations. I show students how to create `revision packs` from their literature.
Recently had two of my Aircraft trainee pilot students pass their L3 (Cut-e) applied numeracy tests.
Recently had a key stage 3 student score 92% in maths (July 21)
I`m a registered teacher with the Education Workforce Council and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I hold a PGCE in FE and HE.
Previously worked as an engineer in industry.
I`m unable to accept Coleg Cambria students at this time as it may be considered a conflict of interest.
