Information about Alex
Hey. Im Alex - a recent graduate from LAMDA in London, where I studied acting, music and writing for four years.
Its pretty difficult to write a biography tailored to the variety of tutorship Im offering here but heres a summary.
Ive been on stages since I was 6 years old- Ive been playing the drums since around that time too. Im fascinated with language, how we communicate - and am a fervent believer in the importance of the Arts being taught (well) in the school curriculum, coupled with a comprehensive English language and literature education.
Learning music has always been a joy, drums especially. When I first began to learn, week to week I found I was unlocking new skills and dexterity; its arguably easiest to learn when you can palpably feel the changes the lessons are having. Im striving to inspire the same progression with my students.
Meanwhile, I was slow to take to wider reading when I was a teen, but had some quite brilliant English teachers who found innovative and creative ways to encourage their students to engage with the written and spoken word - and led me to apply for drama school when I was 18.
My experience at school, and my subsequent training at LAMDA helped me appreciate the complexity of learning. That it is a fundamentally personal experience. No two people learn the same way - the key to unlocking a subject is being able to personalise how it is taught. One of the joys of tutoring is having the platform to find that unique understanding with the student, and be able to teach an individual.
