Information about Yathu
Hi there!
I`m Yathu and I specialise in tutoring Mathematics and science from Key Stage 3 up to A level.
A little bit about me: I am currently in my 4 year of studying Medicine at Imperial College London with interests in Drama, Computing and Sport. I love teaching and have gained experience working with lots of students across a wide range of ages, abilities and backgrounds.
A little bit about my teaching:
Previous tutees have described me as approachable and enthusiastic - two things that I believe are integral in a tutor.
I am familiar with all of the main examination boards and how they work.
I believe in reinforcing good examination technique to meet the rigors of the evolving examination systems as well as encouraging students to pursue their interests within a subject. I like to provide students with articles that might be of interest to supplement their curriculum.
I spend time preparing my lessons which follow a reliable structure. I like to recap past material and build on it in order to consolidate information. This leaves plenty of time to address any questions. When examination seasons are near, I then spend time to refine students examination technique which can often be the limiting factor to excelling at exams.
Aside from my classroom specialities, I have a lot of experience of various application processes such as UCAS, BMAT, personal statements all of which I would be able to provide advice and support for.
Please don`t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Yathu
Availability: My schedule is very flexible and I am happy to work around the times that are most convenient for students.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have worked as a tutor for some years now, most recently, working with A level students. I have also gained some experience working with GCSE students, particularly those who have required further help with Mathematics and Statistics.
University Level - Assisting younger students with pre-clinical medical science
School - As a Science and Mathematics Senior Student I worked with students of all ages who were struggling with elements of the curriculum.
Extra Curricular - As a Play Team Volunteer at St Mary`s Hospital, Paddington, I spend a lot of time interacting with young children which has allowed me develop my interpersonal skills and creativity. As a member of my university`s Drama Society, I have experience in building up people`s confidence which I believe is integral to a student`s academic success.
