An enthusiastic English teacher that aspires to cultivate a passion for the subject, but also ensures that students are challenged and pushed to their best ability to obtain the best grades.
Availability: Weekends and certain weekday hours. (Contact me for more detail).
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: My experience as a qualified English teacher has provided me with a heightened appreciation for the crucial role teachers play in the lives of young people both inside and outside school. For this reason, I have taken my enthusiasm for English outside the classroom to ensure that students are equipped with the right skills and knowledge, with my guidance in order to prosper.
I look at students work and have learning conversations with them in order to analyse and form a judgement on their areas of strength and weakness. From this, I identify how to cater to each students individual learning needs to ensure that they are pushed to their best ability.
As well as enhancing written skills, I also focus on building speaking and listening skills through a vast range of activities. I also mark pieces of work, give feedback and allow time for re-drafting in order to allow students to produce the most qualitative work.
Before embarking in the fields of teaching, my time at university, where I achieved a 2:1 in English Literature followed by a Masters exploring London in Literature, prepared me thoroughly for the depth and breadth of the English curriculum. My willingness to research to further my understanding of texts has enabled me to adapt, contribute to and even create my own schemes of work during my teaching practice.
