Information about Rtvik
Hello! My name`s Rtvik and I live in an environment of learning and teaching. As an attendee of a boarding school, learning from older students, and nowadays, returning the favour to younger students is of utmost importance. Over the years, this has helped me develop my communication skills, but also helped consolidate my own understanding of my subjects. After all, as a personal hero of mine Albert Einstein said, "if you can`t explain it simply, you don`t understand it well enough."
To this end, I have pursued Maths and Science teaching in my local area as is outlined the "Experience" section.
Having achieved a clean sweep of 9 grades at GCSE, I have now completed my Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry studies at Pre-U level (grades pending, but predicted grades were A**-equivalents), and now have an offer to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge. I am very confident in teaching these subjects to A-Level. I also received the highest marks in the country for GCSE French and Latin, so am comfortable teaching these if required.
Chemistry is certainly my forte. I believe this has developed as a result of teaching myself the material, and therefore having to wrestle with the content until I reach an understanding which neatly meshes with the rest of my understanding of chemistry. Therefore, I know which teaching methods work, and which don`t.
The past 2 years, I have been chosen to represent the UK in the International Chemistry Olympiad. This involves mostly undergraduate chemistry knowledge, and I therefore also have a good ability to stretch a particularly keen student beyond the rigid syllabus.
I have been inspired by many older students who have helped foster a love for my subjects; I would like to do the same for someone else now........ or just help them get through a tricky GCSE!
Availability: Available at all hours.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: Over 50 hours tutoring in Maths & Science at home.
Every week fro the past two years, I visit my local library to teach Maths to local underprivileged students (Year 5 - Year 11) as part of the Win@Maths initiative. I also lead my school`s Primary Maths & Science community service.
