Information about Helena
My name is Helena and I am currently a Law student studying at the London School of Economics. I have past experience tutoring GCSE and A level students. What differentiates me from other tutors, is that I have recently sat A level examinations myself and so I extremely aware of the current mark schemes and what examiners are looking for. I achieved an A* in A level History with this being an average grade throughout year 12 and year 13. My A level exam paper was recalled back to give as an exemplar to future A level students in my school which highlights my passion for and ability to succeed in A level history. I also achieved an A* in A level Geography and have a passion for this subject which I would love to help others with. I am also a native french speaker, so I am confident in helping with oral french exams as well as written french for both GCSE and A level which I achieved top marks in also. I will ensure that your tuition is individualised to you, whereby we will identify areas for potential growth and address them in our lessons to help you develop.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: As a tutor, I will endeavour to identify the students areas of weaknesses to focus on in our sessions. Every new student will be given an introduction lesson where I will get to know the student and their academic needs. From this, I will structure the lesson plans accordingly. Possible areas that students often struggle with and ones that I can ultimately address, is structuring essay questions, learning how to use evaluative language throughout, creating substantiated judgement and analysing source/extracts. All of these areas can be covered in my A level History lessons.
My experience in A level Geography equipped my with the necessary means to secure an A* also. I am able to teach the student how to use evaluated language effectively in long essay-style questions. I am also able to help the student with learning difficult content/providing them with very detailed case study information. I achieved almost full marks on my NEA for my A level so am fully able to provide guidance (in so far that is permitted) on the NEA.
