Information about Phil
Im 48, married with four girls. In 2013, I gave my daughters a past Maths paper. When I marked it, they got 20%. They had a Maths GCSE exam, under the old modular system, in two weeks! So I got some books pens and a board and went through as much Maths with them as I could. I continued to tutor them and they went on to achieve an A* and A in their Maths GCSE respectively. It made me realise how much I enjoy maths. I have gone on to study a Maths Degree with the Open University and have since changed careers having served 16 years as a police officer to become a Secondary School Maths Teacher. My youngest daughter just got an 8 under the new system.
Availability: Flexible but ideally Mon, Tue or Thurs. Currently have 4 students, looking for a few more.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: As part of my development, I have been tutoring my daughters and friends children for the past 5 years. I spent 2 years volunteering in an adult GCSE Maths class through Bucks County Council and received a nomination for volunteer of the year. One of my students, who had switched off from Maths, recently came home with a letter from school to say due to your hard work and effort, I am delighted to inform you that you have been moved up a class.
