Information about Sumaya
A Medical Student and Psychology graduate with over 11 years experience supporting students in achieving their academic goals.
I strongly believe one size doesnt fit all. I use a person-centred approach to identify each students strengths and weakness. Additionally, I believe in using scientifically approved study techniques use as spaced repetition and active recall. Using these techniques ensures that students dont just memorise the content but develop a deep and meaningfully connection to it that ensures they achieve the best possible grade. I believe that each student has intellectual potential but may need help cultivating it to allow it to bloom.
My teaching style is borne from my approach to my own education. I am currently studying Medicine MBBS. My passion for supporting younger generations has led me to become an aspiring Paediatrician as I truly believe they are our future and deserve to be safeguarded. My study techniques, discipline and dedication help me attain over 80% in my exams and remain within the top decile of my cohort. Additionally, I have Bachelor of Science in Psychology obtained in 2018. I have used the principles of Psychology such as Learning, Personality differences, Behaviour modifying models to guide my approaches to supporting my students.
I have developed wealth of resources over my teaching years that I utilise to provide the best learning experience for all my students. I use a mixture of interesting examples, videos, questions, scenarios, and peer-to-peer teaching to keep my students learning and engaged. I use a person-centred approach to my teaching. I always arrange an initial letter to assess each student, sometimes seeking testimonials from parents and guardians if needed. I adapt my approach to suit each student, each level and in line with their academic goals. I have created benchmarking tools that I use to track students progress, create recommendations, and adjust lesson plans. I aim to help my students develop the independent thinking and learning skills that will help them achieve their academic dreams.

Experience: I began tutoring in sixth form. For my GCSEs, I attended one of the most impoverished schools within London. I recognised the extra challenges and burdens that emerged owing to the lack of guidance from qualified and dedicated teachers. I decided I did not want others in my area to experience the same. I utilised my skills and knowledge that enabled me to obtain the highest grades in my school, A* - Bs across 11 GCSE subjects.
