Information about Claire

I am a very experienced teacher of piano and I have Grade 8 piano which I passed with Distinction at the age of 15.
I passed my B(Mus), Bachelor of Music at Hull University in 2008. I can start beginners off with learning all the
finer points of piano playing such as the first few notes
and then the complete note range on the piano. I can teach expression and technique. I can teach children and adults to play any style of piano playing that interests them and this includes Classical, Romantic, Contemporary and Popular Music. I can prepare pupils for piano exams and I am dedicated to helping each pupil achieve what they would like to accomplish. It is great fun learning to play the piano and I can help you with Theory of Music also. It is very satisfying for children to work towards musical goals. I could purchase Piano books for you on request. I would ask you to give an idea of what you hope to achieve over a period of time if you are a regular pupil. I have the knowledge to help you to do brilliantly well. I am happy for you to come up with your own ideas and include them in the lessons.

Availability: I can do lessons for you 4.30pm to 7.00pm on a Tuesday evening, Saturday morning 10.00am to 12.00pm or 1.00pm to 4.00pm on a Saturday afternoon.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have taught children and adults to play the piano from the age of 16. I am now 48. I like to teach beginners the
notes, first pieces, how to express yourself in the character of a piece, and it`s style and also about rhythmic elements of it. I move up through the Grades of piano one by one and I also teach Grades 1 to 8 in scales
and arpeggios, broken chords and chromatic scales. I have put pupils in for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music exams. I always get exciting results because I am very thorough in my ways of teaching. I enjoy teaching my pupils to prepare for the exam situation because it teaches confidence and and skill to the pupil.
I can teach adults who are fairly experienced with playing if they are returning to lessons after a rest period and they can tell me what they want to achieve in terms of the kind of pieces ,theory and other personal achievements.
It is always interesting to be imaginative with the music you play and this is part of the learning process.
