PLEASE NOTE: since lockdown, I am predominantly doing online tuition with the majority of my students. We`ve found that this has not impacted upon their experience or learning at all!
The first thing I always consider is your child`s needs and feelings. Some students are intensely focused on what they need to achieve and lessons fly by, whilst others need their confidence slowly building up and it`s a gradual process to get them to where they need to be. I try to link what we do in sessions as closely to what students are doing in school in order for you to see results as quickly as possible. When it comes to exams we will look through not only past papers but the mark schemes to make what the markers are after as clear as possible. In essence, I want your child to succeed, and I`m here to help them find their own path to success.
Availability: Weekday day time and evenings.

Experience: I have been teaching and tutoring English language and literature for over sixteen years in Greater Manchester and have worked as an examiner. I have taught students from across the age and ability range, including Drama at KS3. I have taught Media and Film studies up to A-level as well as making my own films, some of which are educational! I have taught the AQA and WJEC specs and find it easy to adapt to most exam specs but please note; I no longer offer tuition for students on the Edexcel IGCSE qualification.

Giles really helped my daughter in her GCSE English Studies. He tailors his communication style and is very personable. In addition, he’s very friendly and knowledgeable, and from what my daughter says the lessons are fun and good value for money. Overall, Fantastic tutor, I highly recommend!

Giles has been tutoring my son, who is in Y9, for about 6 months. During that time my son`s enthusiasm for English has been ignited. Giles is an excellent tutor, who is very adept at understanding the needs of his tutees and adapting his style accordingly. My son gets on very well with GIles and really looks forward to the lessons (both in-person and on-line). As a result, his English grades have improved significantly. My son will definitely be continuing to have lessons with Giles throughout his GCSE studies. I cannot recommend Giles highly enough.

Giles is brilliant and my daughter and I are both very happy with him. He is tutoring her for English GCSE and he has inspired her to want to take English literature for A level, which wasn`t going to be one of her chosen A levels before she started her sessions with Giles. Eleanor and Wendy
