Information about Luke
I am a young, fun, personable recent graduate that currently works in communications for a Latin American non-profit organisation in London.
I graduated from the University of Nottingham last year with a 2:1 in Hispanic Studies and History, with a Distinction in spoken Spanish. Previous to this I achieved an A in my Spanish A level and an Astar in Spanish at GCSE level.
I would be looking to offer informal conversational Spanish classes to younger students to enhance their oral confidence and ability with the language. This is ultimately the most important part of learning a language in my opinion, as if you do not possess the confidence to communicate and use the language, what is the point of learning it!? During my GCSE and A levels I took a similar form of conversation class when I discussed contemporary news and issues with a tutor and it had an extremely positive affect on my self-belief and ultimately my Spanish ability.
Availability: Evenings from 6pm or weekends
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Though I have no formal teaching qualifications, what I do have is a wealth of Spanish speaking and communicative experience. During my university course I spent 6 months of my 3rd year working at the British Embassy in Chile and another 6 months studying at La Universidad de la Habana in Cuba.
In addition to this I have worked for a 5 month period as a journalist in Chile, have worked for 2 months with monkeys and jaguars in the Bolivian rainforest and have travelled extensively in Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Costa Rica and Venezuela.
