Information about Nathan
Hi, my name is Nathan and I`m currently a masters student studying theoretical physics at the University of Nottingham.
I am a new tutor so am yet to gain significant experience in teaching. However, I am passionate and knowledgeable in my subject and I aim to spend my life as a professer, teacher and researcher exploring the leading ideas in theoretical physics and, more generally, in the nature of existence (including, I hope, some of my own). I believe that even the most seemingly complicated concepts in maths and physics, given a deep enough understanding of their origin, can be understood with surprisingly simple and coherant logic: something I will endevour to provide no matter the level of material.
Availability: I am currently spending my time self-learning physics and working on developing other hobbies/skills/ideas until late September, so my schedule is free until then.
Willing to travel: 12 miles
Experience: My teaching will begin by aiming to provide a deep (and hence long lasting) understanding of the topics covered and, where relevant, explain the nature of each mathematical or physical concept and its relevance to others in the syllabus. I will also aim, where possible, to explain the relevance of the topic in general: what does it mean? Why are we learning it? Why is it interesting? since this is the real reason that we are educated.
Then, with a concrete understanding of the concepts, learning how to answer exam questions will flow with ease. We would spend plenty of time, particularly in the case of pure maths, learning the mathematical tools and exam techniques required to ace the exam questions.
I would also be happy to teach for KS2, KS3, 11 plus, 13 plus and any others!
My academic qualifications include the following:
First class degree in Theoretical Physics
A* at A-level in Maths, Further Maths and Physics.
As levels in Economics and Psychology, Epq in physics
7 A* and 4 A at GCSE
I look forward to meeting you! [if you choose me:)]
