Information about Thom
I am an enthusiastic and able History tutor with proven results. My specialisms are History at GCSE and A Level with AQA/OCR and Edexcel exam boards respectively.
My outlook is simple. I equip students with the exam technique required for success in a way that is only possible in one-to-one tuition. The vast majority of students have the subject knowledge required for success but struggle to apply that knowledge in exams. This is where I come in.
I am not the cheapest History tutor in the area but I believe I represent excellent value for money given the fact that I am a Head of Dept and examiner with a proven track record in tuition.
In the past 5 years my tuition results are as follows:
A-Level: 88% A*-A, 100% A*-C & 100% making above/expected progress.
GCSE: 81% A*-A (9-7), 100% A*-C & 100% making above/expected progress.
11+: all students have got in to their chosen grammar school
Availability: I am available 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 4 and 9pm. I am also willing to work the occasional Saturday.
Willing to travel: 12 miles
Experience: I am a Head of History, examiner and have successfully tutored numerous students with a vast array of needs and abilities.
I have been teaching for 8 years and in addition to my ability to relate to my students I have a proven record of exam success.

My daughter has been tutored by Thom since September 2020. When he first started with her she wasn’t very confident with her work and felt she was behind. However Thom came in and changed everything for the better. She is lot more happy with the results she is achieving and this is all done to the hard work Thom has put in. He has all the quality that a parent is looking for in a tutor to guide your child in the right direction towards the 11 plus. I love how he helped my daughter to overcome challenges in areas that she found particularly difficult in the beginning. Definitely will get him to tutor my son in the future.

Thom is an amazing tutor. He has great resources and offers excellent support in order to achieve the top marks in A-Level history, whilst being very engaging and friendly. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that is seeking a History tutor, definitely one of the best!
