Information about Alan
I am patient and have an easy manner. I understand when pupils have difficulty learning. I use a mixture of books, worksheets and my own personal experience to impart knowledge. I am also increasingly using the vast amount of quality materials that can be found on the internet. Learning is not just remembering facts, I teach students how to think and how to learn and revise. I obtain most of my students by recommendation so I must be doing something right. I have a recent DBS police check.
Availability: I am generally busy so my availability varies please call me.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: I am a retired secondary school teacher (PGCE). I obtained a degree in physics (Heriot Watt) and went on to study for a PhD modelling chaos in lasers at Strathclyde University. I have a masters degree in maths (Teeeside) and a masters in oceanography (Bangor)
I now teach students online and also privately in their homes.

Alan is a very pleasant tutor that made my daughter feel at ease. He was quite accommodating with available times and helped increase my daughters confidence with her maths.
