Experience: Key expertise areas for teaching and researching:
As a current PhD researcher on teaching along with Cambridge CELTA/TKT certification and
MA (Award Winner), I follow the approach of Cambridge`s Content and Language Integrated
Learning (CLIL) and EMI/EAP to teach academic subjects broadly related to Marketing
Communications / Business Studies / Branding / Advertising / Digital Media. For
international and local students it is a dual-learning approach where they learn the content
and also learn the academic language involved (as per the Cambridge CLIL methods). My
ethnicity is Asia and I have taught students from all over the world. My students are
college/university students and professionals from various countries. I also teach Academic
English to higher education students. I assist students for IELTS/TOEIC exams and for
research publications. [My IELTS score - 9 out of 9 in Academic writing. Overall band: 8/9].
English is a second language for me and my accent is mostly Asian English. I have
successfully proved myself as a Cambridge qualified teacher. As an Asian-origin Australian
citizen with UK residency I can blend the Western and Eastern study approaches uniquely. I
understand the hidden needs of the students due to my own teaching exposure worldwide.
I am always involved with research to teach my students in even better ways.
Key teaching experiences:
2020 till present: PhD researcher on teaching at the University of Warwick, UK. Research
involves teaching HE students both in traditional face-to-face classroom based teaching and
the new age online teaching. Working with renowned professors and academicians to learn
new aspects of teaching. As a practising teacher I apply the new knowledge gained in my
PhD to teach my students in even better ways.
2017 2020: Teaching through a global on-line education platform (iTutor) and as an
independent teacher - UK/Asia. I have been teaching college/university students and
professionals. Total teaching sessions over 5000. Average rating 9.5+ out of 10. Teaching
contents are related to various professional sectors such as marketing, sales, branding,
export-import etc. Also, teaching IELTS and TOEIC. Oxford and Cambridge teaching materials
(OUP/CUP) are incorporated. I transform general teaching contents into CLIL based contents
towards effective and creative teaching. In addition to online teaching, I do small classroom
based freelance teaching as per the students` requirements. Also, for CELTA did classroom
based teaching at the British Study Centre, UK. [Current teaching is interrupted for the
Coronavirus pandemic. Have been teaching independently when possible].
2013 - 2017: Masters study (2015) and research works at universities (Monash University
Australia and UNSW) related to communications and education. Occasional classroom based
guest lecturing on branding/marketing communications related research topics. Freelance
mentoring and assisting International Students with IELTS.
