Information about Dan
I was a classroom teacher for nine years and have taught Maths in 3 local grammar schools, all of which were rated as outstanding by Ofsted in their last inspection.
Since 2017 I have worked in teacher training: teaching mathematics to new teachers who do not have a strong background in the subject.
I have extensive experience teaching Mathematics from Key Stage 3 through to A-level Further Mathematics, with excellent results. A number of my students have gone on to read Mathematics at Cambridge and Warwick and many more have gone on to study subjects with a significant mathematical content at various Russell Group universities.
Since, until 2017, I worked in an school, I`m also fully prepared for the revised GCSE and A-level courses, and can also advise extensively on exam technique (i.e. the way of approaching and answering questions so as to maximise the marks you get in the exam).
I always explain the thought processes that would go through my mind when tackling a problem so that the student can see where the solution comes from and also to help build their problem solving skills, something which is going to be crucial in the reformed GCSEs and A-levels.
One of the biggest barriers to success in Mathematics is often a lack of confidence. I believe that one of my main roles as a teacher is to show pupils that they are, in fact, a lot better than they think they are.
Availability: I am generally available both during the week and at weekends, including evenings.
The exact times and days will depend on my existing clients, but I will always do my best to accommodate you.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: I was a full-time Maths teacher from 2008 until 2017 and, in that time, helped well over a hundred pupils pass their GCSEs and A-level exams with excellent results.
I have taught in three Ofsted outstanding grammar schools.
I have taught Key Stage 3 Mathematics, GCSE Mathematics and A-level Maths and Further Maths. I`ve also taught the AQA Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics.
I have a BSc. (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Southampton.
Since 2017 I have worked in teacher training: working with pre-ITT students to equip them with the subject knowledge they need to teach mathematics in UK schools.

Firstly, Dan is extremely personable, both with parent and student. I chose Dan as he has a Maths degree and is also a practicing teacher at an excellent local school, teaching, you guessed it, Maths! My son is very happy with Dan`s style of teaching and I feel he will extract the best out of him. He is always punctual and gives me feedback at every opportunity. I`m so pleased I found him, hopefully our son will exceed expectations! 10/10 for this tutor.
