Experience: With more than 20 years of experience on stage and in the studio and 18 years as a singing teacher, I am confident in my ability to become an asset to your institution. I have acquired both a Bachelor Degree in Music (Jazz) including Teacher Diploma, as well as Postgraduate Diploma in Music - specialisation: Brazilian music.
As a versatile musician and vocalist, I have had an opportunity to be involved in musical projects which covered a wide range of musical styles, from Pop, Classical, Musical, Jazz, Cuban to Brazilian styles such as Samba, Choro, Bossa Nova and to hold a number of professional teaching roles including Singing Teacher at music schools across the Netherlands including the conservatoire of Rotterdam, as well as in the UK as a freelance at KM Music School, The Hampshire School Chelsea and Sing the Easy Way. I have also been teaching the piano to children and occasionally conducting choirs or instrumental ensembles for many years. On two occasions, I was invited by the Conservatoire of Rotterdam to be an external expert judge at the Latin Voice graduation examinations. I have been fortunate to educate diverse groups of children, middle school students and adults, amateurs as well as students intending to be professionals, one of whom, as an example, have been admitted to the Master Jazz Vocal Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
My goal as a teacher has been to develop in my students not only the technical skills, but also musicality, sensitivity, courage to express and openness to different styles of music. I have become a very dedicated teacher. Progress, motivation and pleasure to sing are the key elements of my lessons. My lessons are well structured and of a relaxed atmosphere in order to fully involve my students intellectually as well as physically in singing activities without causing unnecessary tension.
My personal performance experience has helped me in preparing my students for possible situations they might face while practicing, performing, rehearsing, and also, how to deal with stage fright and criticism or how to communicate with musicians. I have learnt how to deal with different personalities and ages and how to be flexible in order to give them everything they need to become professional musicians or simply to enjoy making music.
