Joćo

Joćo began his cello studies at the age of six in his hometown, at the “Conservatório de Mśsica Calouste Gulbenkian” in Braga, Portugal. In 2011 he continued his studies at the University of Minho, under the guidance of the professor Pavel Gomziakov. After finishing his bachelor degree he entered in the class of the international cellist David Cohen at the "Conservatoire Royal de Mons", Belgium. His natural talent and musicianship was noticed at an early stage and developed by participating in inumerous international and national orchestra and chamber music projects.
An avid chamber musician, Joćo was invited to perform at the “Festival Les Sons Intensifs 2017” and at the Pacific Music Festival where he had the chance to perform with the international violinist Rainer Küchl. Since 2016 he has been chosen to become member of the BrittenPears Orchestra and the Pacific Music Festival during the 2018 and 2019 season. Joćo has also been invited to work with professional orchestras such as "Orchestre Royal de Chambre de la Wallonie", " Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto", Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra where he had the chance to work with international renowned conductors such as Christian Knapp, Kirill Karabits, Mikhail Jurowski, Marin Alsop, Christoph Eschenbach, Valery Gergiev, among others. Currently is an awarded scholarship student at Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he is completing his Masters studies in the Orchestral Artistry program in association with the London Symphony Orchestra
