Information about Ashley
Former Clinical Medical Student at King`s College London and BSc Physiology Graduate.
Outstanding and professional personal tutor dedicated towards unlocking your child`s potential. 10 years + tutoring experience has taught me that children learn in distinct ways and at their own pace. I endeavour to teach the relevant curriculum to your child in a personalised fashion, relevant to their learning needs. More importantly, I will empower them with confidence, work ethic and revision aids that will enable them to succeed by themselves.
I approach tutoring from three angles: first and foremost is understanding - can your child explain in his/her own words what they have learnt?, second is working towards examinations - has your child completed sufficient examination questions to know what is expected of them?, third is expanding knowledge through interest - I supplement their learning with additional resources.
The first lesson is often dedicated towards assessing your child`s progress through completion of a past paper exam. This allows us to identify and focus on areas where more work is required.
I encourage my students to organise the work they complete during my tutorials and at school. This saves time when it comes to revision!
I encourage my students to prioritise their learning. This is especially useful when time is limited and exams are fast approaching!
I pride myself on supplementing learning with my own resources (e.g. word-matching games to learn new vocabulary, engaging PowerPoints, DIY DNA model and quick quizzes). This has proven useful in topics which require a degree of visualisation (e.g. the anti-parallel double-stranded structure of DNA or the 3D structure of transition metal complexes).
I provide analogies and diagrams to aid learning of complex topics (e.g. the flow of water to explain electricity)
Where appropriate, I challenge my students with questions that go beyond the scope of the syllabus. In addition, I encourage them to question concepts they do not fully understand. Often this can lead to discussions about anomalies in long-established theories.
I provide or email weekly homework (often past paper exam questions) to consolidate learning from the tutorial. The homework is corrected and any issues are rectified the following week.
I am available via email to my students, so that their questions are met with speedy replies.
Tutoring is a passion (perhaps even pastime) of mine - I get joy from imparting knowledge onto others and watching them succeed!

I must say i have chosen the right tutor. My son was never soo excited before, as he loves Ashley and the lesson. We also can see some changes of my son`s progress, he is able to do his homework by himself now and he is enjoying learning new things. I am happy with tutor hunt for finding me the right choice in very quick time. Ashley could easily find the gaps and he gives appropriate work in 2 hrs time for English and maths. Every week he updates the report what was covered and the homework which is easy to complete. Therefore i highly recommend Ashley for other parents.
