Information about Tom
***NOT CURRENTLY TAKING NEW STUDENTS***
I am a dynamic and experienced Maths and Science tutor recently finished studying a Masters in Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial College London. I tutor Maths and Science at any level from primary to GCSE, as well as Maths and Physics A levels. I also teach computer programming, focusing on Python and Matlab.
Availability: Please message me for specific dates and times, anything between 8AM and 9PM on either weekdays/weekends is fine! I have availability over the summer holidays.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I am passionate about making these subjects accessible and clear to students and have 100+ hours of tutoring experience. I achieved First Class Honours in my degree, A* grades in Maths, Further Maths and Physics at A-level, 10 A* grades at GCSE and I am really familiar with the exam board specifications. Aside from tutoring, in the past I have volunteered as a cricket coach and ran a chess club.
I have an enhanced DBS check and am happy to provide references (please contact me if interested in this information).
My tutoring approach focuses on supporting school lessons, explaining trickier topics, going through homeworks and past papers, and coaching exam technique. The format of lessons is subject to the preferences of students/parents but in general you can expect me to bring question sets and teaching material to each session, aligned with a topic plan/needs of the student, which we go through interactively. For students looking for a weekly tutor, I generally start by going through your course specification with you to understand areas of strength and weakness, before systematically tackling problem areas, then focusing on past papers and exam technique in the run-up to exams. For short-term/one-off tuition, we discuss topic areas of interest online ahead of sessions.
Please message me if you would like to know any other details about my teaching style, or are interested in booking a lesson!

Feedback For Tom (3)

Excellent tutor.

My daughter had only one lesson with Tom as he picked a full time job and could not teach. It was good session but meant we had to start selection process all over again.
Tutors Response :
Hi Samit,
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback!
Im really sorry for the inconvenience caused by my decision to stop tutoring at this time. I understand how difficult it is to find the right tutor, and from this point of view it was unfortunate that I was offered a full-time job to start at short notice just after our trial session.
I should clarify that I applied for this position 6 months ago, and that I had no indication that I was going to be offered a job at this point. As I understood it, the company had stopped hiring due to the coronavirus pandemic.
I hope you have managed to find a great tutor, and wish your daughter all the best with her studies.
Kind regards,
Tom
