Information about Sophie
I am a fully qualified Primary School Deputy Headteacher with 10 years teaching experience. Throughout my career so far, I have worked in schools in the London, Basildon and Thurrock areas catering for children with a variety of learning needs whether that be more able learners or those with Special Educational Needs. Previous to teaching I worked at a local tutoring centre teaching ages 4-11 years in Maths, English and Entrance Exams. I graduated with a high 2:1 in Education. I have A Levels in English Language, Media Studies and Psychology & Health and Social Care.
Throughout my time as a teacher, I have gained experience planning schemes of work, have taught a range of curriculum subjects and marked and assessed children`s work. I have experience teaching in Years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. I am confident in all areas of the curriculum and I pride myself in having high expectations of all children and ensuring that each child reaches their potential.
Previous to training as a teacher I tutored children, ages 4-11, at a local tutoring centre and have gained training in the national curriculum requirements and current teaching methods. In addition, I taught weekly entrance exams sessions.
I adapt my tutoring approach according to the individual, allowing me to teach each individual to how they learn best. I assess what areas the child needs to work on using the National Curriculum targets. From this I create a tailored learning plan to ensure a national target is met each session. I make every lesson as engaging and as interactive as possible.
