I am an Oxford University honours degree qualified teacher and tutor, with 20+ years of primary school teaching and private tutoring, including preparing pupils for 11+ exams. I have a wealth of experience of teaching primary pupils of all ages with a wide range of learning needs.
I specialise in preparing pupils in Y2 and Y6 for English and Mathematics SATs, as well as providing general tuition in English and Mathematics. I also have thorough subject knowledge in the teaching of phonics for reading and writing.
With private tuition and one to one teaching and learning, I believe it is paramount that the tutor is patient, understanding and kind and builds up a positive working relationship with the pupil in order to help them to succeed.
I am now offering reduced fee booster lessons for current Year 6 pupils preparing for 2024 SATs.
Focused blocks of lessons are available for: grammar and punctuation, comprehension and spelling, arithmetic and reasoning.
Availability: I am available for private tuition in English and Mathematics for pupils of any primary school age. I offer both online and face to face lessons. Face to face lessons are conducted at my house and are offered at a reduced fee.
I am now offering Wednesday mornings, UK time, for international clients.

Ruth has been helping my daughter with her entry exam (English at the moment). She is student led and adapts to what my daughter needs to help her with her confidence and understanding. Her lesson is engaging my daughter really enjoyed the lesson with her. Would highly recommend.

Ruth has just started tutoring my 6 year old and is really excellent so far. She was very responsive getting back to me, took the time to understand and read his school curriculum and also give me advice what to help with. She really cares. He really looks forward to his lessons with Ruth, so I think that sums it up!

We have been really lucky to have found Ruth. She is absolutely fantastic! She has very rich experience and knowledge in the subject, and her inspiring teaching has helped my 8-years-old daughter tremendously. She is very resourceful and has a thorough understanding of the national curriculum, besides which she is very patient and kind with kids. Ruth has also customised her style and content to cater for our needs. She set up a meeting with us in advance before the first lessons started to get to know our requirements, which was extremely helpful. We have booked weekly lessons with her and will continue the lessons on regular basis. We would highly recommend Ruth to anyone!
