Hello! My name is Laura and I`m a 28 year old post-doctoral researcher working at Newcastle University. I have a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Newcastle University. I can offer face to face or online teaching sessions.

I love teaching and I believe that given the right tools and support, anyone can succeed in learning maths! My aim in tutoring is not only to make maths more accessible for students who perhaps struggle, but to also make learning maths enjoyable! For some students, a little extra support outside of the classroom can make all the difference in their understanding and hence their grades at the end of the year.

I care a lot about the students I take on and put a lot of time into making resources (everything from summary sheets to full exam style questions) that can be tailored to suit individual learning styles.

Most importantly, I`m approachable and friendly and I like to make the learning environment relaxed! No one wants a scary maths teacher! :)

I especially have lots of resources and skills for tutoring GCSE and AS/A Level Maths at any level! (It doesn`t matter if you`re predicted an E or an A*!)

If you`re studying Maths at Newcastle or Northumbria University I can also teach at the undergraduate degree level. I have particular experience in Matlab and Python. I can support you through your assignments and exam revision throughout the year.

Experience: Maths: I have a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Newcastle University. I have an A* in GCSE and A level Maths and in Physics, plus an A in AS level Further Maths and an A in a FSMQ Additional Maths.

Tutoring/Teaching: I`ve done lots of work experience in schools, assisting teachers with their maths lessons and working one on one with pupils. I have 8 years private tutoring experience and have taught at Newcastle University throughout my PhD and post-doctoral roles.
