Eleven-plus
I am an experienced tutor, teaching assistant and EFL teacher, with particular experience working with students with additional needs. I have helped many students improve their grades and boost their confidence.
No two students are the same, and my personalised lessons reflect this. My approach is centred on the student`s individuality and emphasises their strengths. If you choose me as your tutor, I will discuss your needs and expectations with you to devise lessons that are tailored to you.
I understand that our education system does not suit every learner and I ensure that learning with me is a positive experience. Enjoyment is vital in learning, so I always make sure to have fun and build a strong rapport with learners.
Currently, I have a BA degree in English and Creative Writing and an MA in Medieval Studies (for which my dissertation was literature-based). Through completing these degrees, I developed an in-depth understanding of literature. Although working towards exams is important, I also emphasise learning lifelong skills from the study of literature. I aim to bring creativity into my lessons. In my free time, I read, write book reviews and am currently working on my first novel.
Availability: I am only available for online lessons.
I am flexible and am happy to work around your schedule.

Experience:
SECONDARY ENGLISH
As a private GCSE English tutor, I have helped students achieve their desired grade and boost their enthusiasm for the subject. In these classes, I focussed on both the literary analysis and creative writing aspects of the subject. I have a strong understanding of the different exam boards, grades and expectations. Furthermore, I place an emphasis not only on grades but also on developing confidence, individual ideas and self-expression.
EFL
My EFL students have ranged from ages three to eighty-four. In 2015, I worked as an EFL teacher in Spain. I taught both individual and group classes for all age groups. I prepared students for their Cambridge English exams and had a 100% pass rate. I have also taught voluntarily in Japan and France.
PRIMARY
I have worked as a one-to-one teaching assistant in Key Stages One and Two. I differentiated classwork to suit the pupils` learning styles and interests, making the curriculum more accessible to them. They became happier and more confident at school and were eventually able to work more independently.
I received training in Read Write Inc. phonics and assisted students with their reading on a daily basis. Further to this, I ran a creative writing intervention for children in Year Two. These interventions helped pupils improve their writing skills while working creatively. They also gained confidence in expressing their ideas.
I have also provided private after-school tuition in English and maths.
ELEVEN-PLUS
I have provided private eleven-plus tuition. This included maths, English, verbal and non-verbal reasoning.
SEN
I was a teaching assistant in an SEN specialist school. Additionally, I worked at a Saturday club for young people with additional needs. These included autism, Down`s syndrome and global delay.
