I have worked in `outstanding` comprehensive and selective state and independent schools for over 25 years as a classroom teacher, head of department and Special Needs Coordinator.

I have a Post Graduate Certificate of Education qualification in Mathematics teaching (second subject) and have passed an Open University level 2 course in `Developing Mathematical Thinking` concentrating on the most effective ways of teaching Maths. In addition to Maths and RS, I have taught A Level Philosophy in which a logical approach is a vital skill.

I specialise in helping students who lack confidence or who have missed out part of their maths education. My approach is to re-establish basics, spending as much time as necessary on each stage, before progressing to the next. I like to use real life examples and to encourage understanding and problem solving. I strongly believe that anyone can `do Maths`.

Availability: I am currently only available for online teaching, but hope to be able to recommence face to face teaching in June. I have vacancies during the daytime, evenings and weekends.

Experience: I started tutoring by helping my children`s school friends pass GCSE Maths and had a 100% success rate with them all gaining the required grades to enter the sixth form or their chosen training course. I have been tutoring professionally for the past two years whilst continuing to teach in school part time. I have tutored Maths at primary, lower secondary level and foundation GCSE level and have prepared students for their 11+ and common entrance exams. I have taught GCSE and A Level Religious Studies and Philosophy. I am an external examiner for A Level Philosophy.
