I am a retired Primary school teacher (KS1 and KS2).

I am married and we moved to Dorset in 2018 to be nearer family.

My interests are family history, dressmaking and gardening.

Availability: After school, 3:30 to 6:00, on afternoons to be agreed with tutees.

I am usually available for tuition/ revision during school holidays.

Potential students should note that I teach only in my own study at my home in Ferndown.

I am very happy to take Year 4 children, as well as Year 5.

Experience: Very experienced, with almost 40 years` teaching in Buckinghamshire, most recently as a supply teacher.

For the past 30 years, I have also been a private tutor, specialising in preparation for the 11+ test. I can also tutor children of at least 7 years old. In my experience, younger children need short, learning periods, and not the longer weekly lessons which I normally give.

I have normally had up to 10 pupils every week in one-to-one lessons. I have additional references from previous families, together with an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check, for parents to read when they visit.

Comprehension is a vital part of the English component of the tests, and often does not get enough focus in school classes or in commercial test papers. I am able to give this appropriate emphasis, with multiple-choice test work in every lesson.

Please note that all my tuition takes place in my spacious study at home in.

In the 2020/1 school year, I had 7 children who entered the test and 5 reached the grammar school standard. I do not run entry tests for children starting tuition with me.
