Information about Rachel
I am Head of Social Sciences at a local outstanding school with 5 years teaching experience and 3 years tutoring. I am a patient tutor who will carefully plan my sessions to suit the students needs. If the student is struggling with the content, I can explain the Psychology concepts clearly and with thoughtful questions, ensuring the student has a clear understanding. If a student is struggling with exam skills I have a wealth of knowledge of the structure needed for each type of question and will come equipped with exam style questions to work through and provide immediate feedback.
I also believe it is important for students to understand how to prepare for exams outside of the tutoring sessions, if needed I will help students to plan their time effectively and suggest tools and resources to help with this.
Availability: -Week day evenings - timing to be negotiated depending on school commitments.
-Occasional weekends and during the holidays.
-Although having a set slot weekly is beneficial, I am willing to be flexible based on both the students and my commitments.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have been a qualified teacher for five years. I currently work in a local mixed ability successful secondary school. My last four Psychology cohorts have received fantastic results placing us in the top 10% of the country. I have been privately tutoring for three year, these students have come with a range of abilities and needs which I have adapted my sessions to suit and ensure they receive all the help required to gain the results they aspire for. I am able to provide references on request from previous and current students. In addition to this, I have been the assistant head of achievement for sixth form therefore I am very aware of the challenges facing this year group and can provide plenty of advice on how to grow the A-level mindset.

I found myself really struggling with psychology, it didn`t make much sense to me until I started being tutored by Rachel. She was so patient with me and explained things in a way that made it all make sense. She helped my confidence and made me believe that I could actually get a decent grade at A Level. I went into my exams feeling super positive and having a much better understanding of the subject and this was all down to her. I would recommend Rachel to anyone.
