Information about Kirsty
I am very friendly and approachable, with a real passion for science and maths!
My chemistry PhD also involved a teaching studentship. This involved working in the undergraduate teaching laboratories to help/support the students in practicals, as well as marking student`s lab reports and assisting in classroom based workshops for both chemistry and mathematics.
I have four years experience in tutoring mathematics at GCSE level (for both foundation and higher tiers), three years experience in tutoring GCSE and A-level chemistry, as well as some GCSE biology and physics.
My approach to tutoring is very friendly, relaxed and informal. I will steer each session in the way the student wants it to go, focusing on the specific topics/areas they want to work on, whether it is a particular area they are really struggling with or simply want some practice to perfect it and develop their overall understanding. In my previous experience with maths and chemistry I have found that working through exam style questions is very successful as this helps to combat any fears with the exam and helps the student gain confidence in tackling questions they at first would not know how to approach.
