Information about Wendy
I have been teaching Law for 28 years in schools and further education colleges with a good track record of getting top grades with both AQA and OCR A Level boards, although I presently specialise in the OCR H418 specification (covering legal system, law making, nature of law, contract law, tort and crime) as this is the syllabus that I teach at school. I do not teach the Human Rights option.
I have also taught CILEX to adult students working in the legal profession and Unit 4 Criminology (WJEC / Eduqas) Level 3 Applied Diploma.
I teach in school three days a week, and have also taught online from home via Zoom and from school via Teams (as required) for the last two years. I have been delighted with how effective online teaching can be; it has worked very well.
Availability: Daytime - Mondays
Afternoons (3-7pm) Monday to Friday
Evenings and weekends TBC

Experience: I began teaching in Southampton in 1996 and have experience of teaching students of all ages. My resources are varied and I like to use handouts fleshed out by PowerPoint explaining key concepts and cases. In addition, I have a bank of short questions for each topic to help students get the maximum AO1 knowledge marks that they can, these are especially useful for revision.
It is vital that students understand how to obtain marks by thoroughly understanding the three assessment objective categories (AO1, AO2, AO3) and we go through this with practice questions to find any weak areas. Examination technique is also crucial along with strict time management to ensure every question is attempted.

My son started with an E in his law mock and just achieved an A in his a-level law exam and was two marks off a A* thanks to Wendy and her tutoring lessons. She’s very friendly and patient and my son found her law materials very useful and organised. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a tutor. Thank you Wendy!

Wendy has been amazing for our daughter. She is/was a Covid kid - never sat her GCSEs, did not complete the GCSE syllabus and then like many teenagers - thrust into 6th form college and A Levels completely unaware what was about to hit them. After her first year - her college said drop Law - you have failed the year one exam you are not good enough. We approached Wendy - explained the situation - and were very honest as to the gaps / challenges. Our daughter received her results this morning - she got a grade A for law - and has met the offer of her preferred university. We have watched our daughter grow in confidence, mature greatly and significantly improve academically during the last 12 months. She gained some of highest marks of her cohort. Our daughter turned it around spectacularly with some old fashioned hard work (after some home truths too !!) and a dedicated tutor attuned to the needs of her student and how best to motivate, guide and support her to achieve her potential.
