The renowned quote by Sewell has meaningful ideas, concepts engraved within it. Thus before we reach our personal judgment of agreeing or disagreeing with his statement, many elements needs to be analyzed and evaluated in order to conceptualize the whole idea and truly understand the meaning of what he actually meant and why did he say this. In order to organize the school of thoughts or the belief indicated in Sewell's statement, it is very important to go back in the time frame and dig the different beliefs and practices about the environment at that period of time and then relate to today's world and concepts. In order to do so, let us look at the key words in the statement which if highlighted can help me getting deeper into the core meaning of the statement -firstly, splitting up social institution and technology the two main stressed terms both of which are inseparable from environment. Environment and social institutions are intertwined. The main actors of social institutions are the human and it is an evident fact that the day people have started using natural resources degradation of environment initiated ultimately threatening human security impacting the quality of these resources. The environment is disturbed either naturally or due to human activities. The natural phenomenon works towards bringing a state of equilibrium. According to Odum (1971) and Turk et al. (1978), dynamic equilibrium can be achieved naturally, but the time frame of the whole process depends on the magnitude of the disturbance. Owing to the increasing real income of the people enable them to afford and consume more goods, dispose more and consume even more. The advanced technologies in media have made reach people even at the remote corners exposing them to new products every day. The technology thus produce in the process a huge array of products for consumption in increased quantities through increasing productivity and have augmented the pace of obsolescence through further and rapid innovations. The multiplying effect of decisions made by consumers and their surrounding societies are the main forces triggering the change of global environment. It is often argued that society cannot disrupt the earth system entirely; we do affect the environment as we use more energy and create pollution in our quest to satisfy our basic needs like food, shelter etc. and ultimately impact our own security with the disrupted or unavailability of the vital natural resources like air, water, land and food. This close association between human security or well being and environmental quality and the present and future fate common to all the planets inhabitants made us live in an era of environmental politics. Environmental politics is also an essential component in social institutions. At present the environmental politics have reached the global stage. Competing visions, values and interests often lead to conflict thus the difference in visions or perceptions-whether to reconcile self interest, or seeking a delicate balance or fighting to make oneself preeminent are the probable causes of political viewpoint.......................
