How Do You Speak Maths?
Short video introducing high school students to fundamental university maths ideas
Date : 10/01/2024
Entering university mathematics can often be overwhelming. You are, in a sense, learning a whole new way of describing and encapsulating things, a whole new language. As with any language, the more you use it the more you begin to think in it, and this is what you go to university to do. In the linked video, I introduce the vocabulary and syntax of mathematics in the hopes that you see the all the funny squiggles for what they are: abstract symbols with rules attached that allow us to find absolute truths through careful logic and creative proofs.
