Before the day of the test: -

· Over the next two weeks practice often and in small chunks in your books to keep skills sharp as well as completing full tests

· Have an early night the day before the test!

Day of the test: -

· Everyone will be nervous (including parents!) but remember people show it differently so don’t be put off by the behaviour of others

· Try to remember what you have learnt, you have worked hard and are well prepared so be positive!

· Take a small drink and snack to have at the break in case you don’t manage to get one there

· Go to the toilet beforehand and in the break but try to avoid this during the test!

During the test: -

· Try not be distracted by those around you, stay focussed on what you need to do

· Full concentration!

· Try to start the test/each section of the test reasonably quickly (but carefully) so that you not behind with time at the start

· Answer ALL questions

· If you don’t know the answer put an answer in and circle it then try to come back to it. Appreciate that some questions take longer than others but don’t spend too long on one question which may ruin your chance to answer others

· Ensure this is a sensible strike across in the box

· Ensure that you rub out incorrect answers and do not include two answers unless the question states this

· Work quickly but carefully throughout

· Remember – think of it as one whole test with a spilt in the middle. 100 % effort needs to be given throughout from the first question on the first paper to the last question on the last paper. Try to be consistent and do not let the break in the middle affect your concentration for the next section. Re-focus as soon as you enter the hall/exam room
