Picture yourself, standing still in the middle of a very busy Victoria Station and not understanding English too well. Silently, for two minutes. You hear the noise of voices you don t understand speaking all around. Then imagine you have to buy a train ticket back to your native country abroad, not knowing how to speak English properly. Under time pressure to know where to buy a ticket, read and understand the mass of signs and signals all around the station, with people rushing past you from all angles. Even if you can speak good English, this can be a tricky, anxious experience in rush hour. You feel the pressure from people behind you in the queue, as you stumble to look for the right words on a ticket machine to press. What ticket, at what time, on what day, to where, how much and how do I pay? The anxiety and confusion builds as you desperately look for the right buttons to press. Sweat builds as someone behind shouts at you in an aggressive manner. You know it s not something like Good morning sir as they urge you to hurry up! As even most the fluent English speakers will have experienced, this can be a difficult exercise at any Central London train station.

But wait, help is available!
