No
matter where you go around the world, you could come across countries who dont
speak English.Even knowing some basic words can help break the ice when you`re
in a foreign country. Moreover, it`s not the same as being able to make an
conversation, most people appreciate when you`re trying to speak their
language, even if you have to switch back to English right away . Let me convince you
the reasons to start studying another language nowLanguages
give you the opportunities to travel, meet new people and explore different
cultures.1.
Impress people around youLanguage has that strange power over people. The fact is, people love
it when they find out you can speak another language. In their eyes, you
suddenly become 100% more interesting. If youve ever been at a party where
someone sat down at the piano or picked up a guitar and started playing
beautifully, youll know what Im talking about. People just gather around. We
love being surprised by hidden talents.learning a foreign language is
bound to impress more than a few people around you. You will likely get plenty
of compliments on your unique skill, and a few curious glances from passersby
here and then.Of course, impressing
people should not be the reason why you choose to learn a foreign language ,
but who doesnt want to be more interesting?2.
Develop confidenceYoure about to teach yourself to believe, yes, I can.
Itll become your new personal mantra.Confidence increases when a new skill is mastered, and Learning a foreign language
is an incredibly rewarding experience and a serious confidence booster It increases your self-confidence.In order to master a new language, conversations with native
and fluent speakers are essential.Youll get to overcome some of your fears and
doubts, learn more about yourself, meet new people, and perhaps travel to
places you wouldve never dared to visit before. Plus, the constant positive
feedback from native speakers and their encouragement is always a motivation
and ego booster3. Completely transform
your travel experienceTravel
is not just about taking pretty pictures and posting them on Facebook or
Instagram, or spending a week in a 5-star all-inclusive resort. Austrian
philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein is credited with saying that the limits of
your language are the limits of your world, and he was right . Knowing more
than one language opens up your vacation destination possibilities. Traveling
through a foreign country becomes much easier if you can speak the language of
that country. Fluency isnt required.Best of all, it will enrich your life by
offering you a deeper understanding of the culture and history of the people
youll encounter. Also, getting to a comfortable speaking level in a foreign
language is a great motivator to get you out there and practicing your new
language in a new country.4.
Study or live overseas If
you feel like youre in for some change and youre looking for some excitement
and adventure in your life, a foreign language might just be the door thats
waiting to be opened. Why not leave for a few years and study inSouth East
Asia? Or perhaps find your dream job in Germany? Whatever it is that you want,
knowing a second language will suddenly shrink the world and bring you
opportunities of a lifetime. 5.
Become more open-minded Learning
a foreign language and getting soaked into an entirely new culture and world
view is the surest way to become an open-minded, understanding individual, and
that is, I would argue, absolutely priceless. Once you are aware of the fact
that we are all cultural beings, products of our own environments, and that you
recognize the cultural base for your own attitudes and behavior, you are ready
to consider others in a more favorable light. Seeing the world from a different
perspective, and understanding where you and others come from, is a fantastic,
eye-opening experience. 6.
Discover a new culture Music,
movies, food, literature, poetry, theatre, fine arts: the list of fabulous
things that culture brings to our lives is endless. You might have heard that
language and culture are two sides of the same coin: I would tend to agree with
this. 7.
Meet new people and develop friendshipsFinally,
and perhaps most importantly, meeting new and interesting people and developing
life-long friendships are certainly objectives well worth aspiring for, and
learning another language is a sure way to expedite that process. Plus,
learning a language is FUN!  Everybody
has different reasons for learning a language . But by now, I hope I can
convince you the amazing benefits that knowing another language can bring. Yes,
its not easy and may taking time and effort. But the investment is well worth
it.
