Chemistry is EVERYWHERE. Chemistry is indeed present in every aspect of life and a single day of human life can witness numerous chemical processes going on within as well as outside the body. All our senses of hearing, seeing, touching, tasting involve amazing chemical reactions and interactions in our body and whatever we see, touch, feel and hear involves Matter. Basically, Chemistry is the Science of Matter and enormous range of processes this matter undergoes. There are countless examples from everyday life based on this Science. To quote just a few, setting fireworks on fire followed by their blowing up, analyzing the fluctuating trends in the Cholesterol levels in our body, using ornaments made up of shiny-shimmery metals, coffee keeping us awake, vegetables with different colours, fuels used by vehicles and our expressions of happiness, anger, gloom, love etc., everything is explained by Chemistry. Even without going into the details of different branches and the vast scope of the subject, It is fascinating to know a little bit of Chemistry at some level to understand the processes going on in our body as well as things happening outside in the world.

From an Academic point of view, Chemistry can be broadly classified into three branches, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. One needs to have the basic understanding of matter, the constituting particles, their properties and the way of functioning to move on to advanced topics. Students sometimes find difficulty in understanding the complex topics of the subject but if one puts in efforts to understand the basic Atomic structure and advances step by step to explore this Science, it appears more logical, evenhanded and fascinating. Most of this Science involves logical concepts which once inculcated deeply in the mind, stay there in the long run and are the basic foundation of any further leaning. As a teacher, I always believe in laying a firm foundation of the subject in student`s mind so that the road ahead seems traceable, easier and surely reasonable to him and on this road lies the vast knowledge of the subject and also everything happening around us as well as within. The better we know this Science spread all around us, the better we know our world.
